Capricorn TVET college is a combination of three colleges. These included the former Northern Province Community College, the former Pietersburg Technical College (PTC), and the former Bochum College of Education (NPCC).
Since the programs directly address the top skill demands of the South African market, Capricorn Colleges for FET has emerged as many young people’s first option for further education. THE NATIONAL CERTIFICATE (VOCATIONAL)
The National Qualification Framework’s Levels 2, 3, and 4 provide the National Certificate (Vocational) disciplines (NQF). Each level of the NCV program has 130 credits and includes both a core learning component and a vocational component.
Three Fundamental Subjects (Required). English, an official second language, is available as a teaching and learning medium, Mathematical literacy or mathematics, and Life Orientation.
Three core Subjects and 1 Optional. These are optional subjects, approved by the subfield organization of the National Qualification Framework (NQF) a student chooses according to his or her field of interest or specialization.
The subject combinations in each program provide a high degree of specialization for a
particular program. It is important to note that of the 4 compulsory vocational subjects, the 4th subject may be chosen from any field to provide the student with high levels of specialization.
NATIONAL CERTIFICATES (VOCATIONAL) LEVEL 2, 3 & 4
ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
For entry into the National Certificate (VOCATIONAL) at NQF Level 2 you are required to have:
• A year-end school report for Grades 11 or 12 certificates; or
• An NQF 1 qualification; or
• An approved bridging program designed for the specific purpose to access NQF Level 2; or
• A Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) assessment to meet the basic requirements for access to NQF Level 2
• Grades 9 and 10 will be considered only in exceptional cases.
NATIONAL CERTIFICATE (VOCATIONAL) – MANAGEMENT
For entry into the National Certificate (VOCATIONAL) at NQF Level 2 you are required to have:
• A year-end school report for Grades 11 or 12 certificates; or
• An NQF 1 qualification; or
• An approved bridging program designed for the specific purpose to access NQF Level 2; or
