Apple is introducing an exciting update to its popular app, Shazam, which aids users in identifying songs. With the latest update, Shazam expands its capabilities beyond the microphone, allowing users to recognize songs playing on YouTube, Instagram, and TikTok. This new feature proves invaluable when users come across a video lacking information about the background track.

In version 15.36 of the app, as initially reported by 9to5Mac, Apple outlines the simple process of identifying a song on the abovementioned platforms. Users need only open Shazam, tap the blue button, and return to YouTube, Instagram, or TikTok to obtain the desired results.

It’s worth noting that Shazam is also available on Android devices. The app offers similar functionality for recognizing songs from other applications on this platform. However, Android users must grant explicit permission for Shazam to access audio from these external apps. In 2019, the app, under Apple’s ownership, gained the capability to identify songs even when they are played through headphones.

Apple’s acquisition of Shazam was finalized in 2018 at a substantial sum of $400 million. Soon after the acquisition, Apple incorporated a Shazam option into the Control Center of iOS, allowing users easy access to song recognition with a button tap.

In a separate development, TikTok launched a “New Music” feature in May. This feature enhances the platform’s functionality by facilitating users’ exploration of new tracks and artists, actively promoting their latest releases.

With these advancements, Apple’s Shazam continues solidifying its position as a go-to app for song identification across various platforms, bringing joy and convenience to music enthusiasts worldwide.
